The images were created autonomously by a generative computer program. By removing my hand as an artist the images exist as pure output of the program. My computer made the design decisions and worked through the process, then it passed the finished image on to me. Each image is from the program running for 10 seconds. I made this rule so that the range of outputs would have duration as another uniting factor, aside from sharing the same code.
The algorithm used to determine the output of the program is meant to simulate the arrangements of natural forms. Unlike complete randomness, this algorithm has a sense of history when it calculates the next interval. This allows for smooth transitions that still remain unpredictable, much like the growth of plant life, or the movement of clouds.
